Exclusive Video: Lenny Kravitz: Haitians "in Desperate Need of Help in Darkest Hour"
Lenny Kravitz and Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez are the latest celebs urging fans to help the people of Haiti rebuild after Tuesday's devastating earthquake.
"Our neighbors in Haiti are in desperate need of our help in their darkest hour," Kravitz, 45, says in an exclusive UsMagazine.com clip promoting SaveHaitiSaturday.com, which encourages businesses to donate a portion of their earnings on that day to the relief effort.

"We have to band together as one to help our Haitian brothers and sisters," he continues. "Time is of the essence."
Alex Rodriguez also supports the Haiti relief effort. (His ex Madonna announced a $250,000 donation earlier Friday.)

No... we should never help the american poor (sorry if I show my self absord side). See, american society has decided its going to call any female who hooks up with a successful business owning male (a good provider) a "gold digger" (especially if he is older than her. I dont think a woman who chases a rich man 15 years younger than her has ever been called a gold digger. Its just male's younger lovers who get that label which makes me think an older woman invented that word's cultural contextual meaning and usage) . Do you know how many times my girlfriend has been called a gold digger for deciding she'd rather date us business owning 28-32 year old guys instead of some 21 year old white trash dude who works in a mall? All an american female has to do to change their lives is drop their "i'd rather have hot sex with a broke but 23 year old guy than a lonely 37 year old doctor who probably needs viagra " attitude. All an american female has to do to change their life is change their taste in males from white trash to financially stable males. Sugardaddies are more generous to their babes than society itself will ever be. For you people that have no compassion, shame on you! Many Americans are too self-absorbed and selfish. If you are so gung-ho on helping, you can start in our backyard. Volunteer your time and donations to the less fortunate in Amercica. Maybe then your compassion can go elsewhere. Many complain, few help! God helps those who help themselves, but, since his existence is clearly in question... we can't count him to help the haitians. So, its up to us to donate in anyway we can. Us americans are God and on our coins we should write "In God we are". Anytime the world is in trouble.. they come to us for help because nobody else cares or can. How nice of Obama to donate 100 Million American dollars when the rest of the world together barely coughed up 3 Million. 100 Million dollars that we are giving out when our own people are suffering and in a recession. Some of you people are so ignorant, we live in a country that gives medicaid, food stamps and housing to its people. Granted there is a lot of paperwork involved and sometimes it takes time but dont think some of the same people writing on this blog are not living off the government. The US has poured Billions of $$$ into Haiti and it's still the poorest country - Why - due to a corrupt government who does not share the money with the people. The men and boys are now fighting and looting - they do not care about their own people, so why should we when there are still kids in the US without proper food!
Be careful if you donate to Wyclef Jean's charity. It's been reported he uses this money for himself and his concerts. It has nothing to do with the people of Haiti. I'm not saying don't donate, just be careful where you donate.

Americans with their short attention spans, would never notice corrupt governments taking billions in aid relief and leaving the people still in despair. Gangs were ruling the streets and killing and looting long before this horrific earthquake. When they say "Haitian Authorities", who are they talking about? No police, no one accountable. Can America bring Democracy to yet another country? No one except United Nation troops should ever be there.Send aid, send relief and get our government out. Let the relief workers that were already there do the job. Uncle Sam, stay out.
