Spencer Pratt is trying to keep things light. The former Hills star gave an unfiltered interview to Cosmopolitan on Thursday, June 16, in response to the recent news of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s burgeoning relationship.
“I feel like I’m still dreaming. I think the whole world needed something like this,” Pratt, 32, said in the interview. “After all the horrible news lately, we needed something good. I was gonna unplug my WiFi; I was gonna go dark. But Taylor, you know, she brought us out of the woods.” (“Out of the Woods,” of course, is a song from Swift’s smash album 1989.)
The reality star added that he had never been a fan of Swift’s relationship with Calvin Harris, who reportedly broke up with the pop star just two weeks ago.
“I’ve been trying to figure out who T. Swift should rebound with ever since before she even broke up with Calvin; I knew he wasn’t good enough for her,” Pratt told Cosmo. “I never liked his smug attitude; the whole time he was with her, he always seemed like it wasn’t anything special to be with Taylor Swift. I didn’t like it from the jump. So I was always like, ‘Who can Taylor Swift do better with?’”
As previously reported, Swift, 26, was photographed kissing Hiddleston, 35, in Rhode Island on Tuesday, June 14. The pair were “all over each other — hugging and kissing — even though there were 20 people coming and going on the beach,” an eyewitness told The Sun, which published the photos. “They looked like any young couple madly in love without a care in the world.”
Harris, 32, promptly unfollowed Swift on social media and even blocked Swift’s fan accounts after the images surfaced. He also tweeted and then deleted a message that read, “Oh boy it’s about to go down” along with a skull emoji.
“Oh, he’s straight-up pissed,” Pratt hypothesized about Harris, who appeared unfazed by the news when asked by paparazzi on Thursday. “I don’t know what his deal is — he never looked giddy enough to be [with] T. Swift. He always acted like, ‘Ugh, I’m a superstar DJ. I perform for big shows. Untz unto unz.’ Even Jake Gyllenhaal seemed happier when he was out with Taylor, and that’s Jake Gyllenhaal; I mean, he’s in a whole ‘nother league.”
Swift and Hiddleston, collectively known as HiddleSwift, enjoyed a lengthy date night at Olympia Tea Room in Westerly, Rhode Island, on Wednesday, June 15.
“Tom and Taylor were … in the back left booth drinking white wine,” an eyewitness told Us Weekly. “They were very cute, a lot of laughing, giggling, as she showed him texts and photos on her phone.”
