Instead of asking their wedding guests to buy them fine china or stock their wine collection, the couple requested that donations be made to the Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund. According to the Palace, approximately $1.7 million was raised through their generosity, with the money earmarked for 19 charities of Will and Kate's choosing.
