Jermaine Jones will not be the next American Idol.
In a tweet that was subsequently deleted, the top 12 finalist announced that he will depart the show come Wednesday evening.
TMZ reports that the FOX smash's producers discovered that Jones concealed a criminal record -- one that includes two 2011 arrests, with one incident that involved violence.
It's not the first time a checkered past has led to the dismissal of an Idol contestant. Season 2's Jared Andrews was dismissed over assault charges as was Corey Clark; both didn't divulge their records.
