Say cheese!
Turns out even the wrath of Anna Wintour isn't enough to make some stars step away from their smart phones!
Guests of Wintour's 2015 Met Gala held on Monday, May 4 at New York's Metropolitain Museum of Art were istructed of a strict no selfie rule at this year's bash — but the allure of the camera was just too much for several stars like Justin Bieber, Madonna, Kim Kardashian, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, and Kendall Jenner to resist.
As the biggest names in fashion gathered together for the annual fete, a slew of A-list names shared candid shots of their big night via Instagram, cozying up for selfies in some predictable — and other highly unpredictable — pairings.
Madonna led the way, sharing snaps of herself with a host of fellow Gala guests, including one photo with diva rivals Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, as Us Weekly previously reported. She also teamed up with Kardashian, Kanye West and Diplo for another snap. "From the inside looking out!" the singer captioned the shot rebelliously. "?#unapolgeticbitches," she added.
Bieber was another snap-happy celeb who shared inside snaps with a heavily tattooed Cara Delevingne and Lady Gaga.
Behati Prinsloo also shared a shap (which was evidently going to be appearing on multiple social media feeds judging by the number of selfie takers in the frame!) of herself with a gaggle of supermodels including Kendall Jenner, Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, and Bella Hadid.
Kerry Washington got overexcited to be close to Alicia Keys, and Stella McCartney found it impossible to prevent herself from posing for pictures with Donatella Versace, Delevingne, and Bieber.
Cyrus, a prolific Instagram sharer, was quick to post a slew of snaps from the event, posing with Rita Ora and Zoe Kravitz among others.
Reese Witherspoon shared a few playful snaps with BFF Sofia Vergara (who returned the favor, joking in her photos that Witherspoon was cheating on her!)
Last but by no means least, queen of the selfies, Kim Kardashian, enjoyed giving fans the inside scoop on her evening-to-remember. She cozied up with Cher (her dress inspiration), Lady Gaga, and even compared butts with Jennifer Lopez!
On entering this year's Met Gala, all guests were informed that "the use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted" during the event. According to Page Six, the unusual ban was not an attempt to maintain Vogue exclusivity for the event, but was “solely to do with guests’ security and enjoyment of the event.”
