Video: Kelly Bensimon: Housewives Meltdown Was an "Out-of-Body Experience"
On Thursday's The Real Housewives of New York City, Kelly Bensimon attempts to explain her infamous May 20 show meltdown -- but only leaves her pals even more confused.
Sitting with Jill Zarin, LuAnn de Lesseps and Jennifer Gilbert, Bensimon, 42, says she lashed out at costars Ramona Singer, Alex McCord, Sonja Morgan and foe Bethenny Frankel during a trip to the Virgin Islands because they were gossiping too much.
"From the minute we were together, it was everything that I hate – talking badly about people," she begins.
(Oddly, she then starts gossiping about Frankel, 39: "She’s, like, a cook and everything like that, and I’m thinking to myself, ‘I mean, not one person that I know has ever hired her as a cook.'")
Bensimon says she was "so over tired" and "feeling sick" when she snapped (among her quips: She called Frankel a "ho bag"). "I was drinking this wine – I never drink wine – and I was sitting in this room with these women. I just wanted to get out of there," she says. "... It was an out-of-body experience."

In the end, the ladies still had no clarity about what actually went down.
Says de Lesseps, 45: "By the end of Kelly’s story about the trip, I was so confused. I mean, I just didn’t get it. I had to hear the other side of the story."

Unbelievable!!! I am on Kelly's! Kelly STOOD UP for her friends at the very beginning of the STUPID "renewing of vows" trip which we all know is just an excuse for Ramona to pretend she is 20 years old again - yuk! Anyway, Kelly said to please not talk/gossip about anyone who wasn't there because she didn't think it was nice and the VERY NEXT THING Ramona did was say "..she ATTACKED ME ..." (Jill) and started the ball rolling! All the girls chimed in about how horrible Jill was (and she was!) however, Jill had already asked for everyone to be nice but Ramona went ahead with her meanness anyway. Well, it went DOWNHILL from there with everyone turning on Kelly for her trying to be CONSIDERATE of others! All of those other ladies are so mean AND they made Kelly feel like SHE was the weird one. I would go crazy the rest of the evening too!!!!!!!!!!Kelly, please get off that show and leave it to the mean spirited, back-stabbing, hateful ones! They make the show a hit while you need to go on and live a normal life!!!!!!!! I, for one, understand you and messed up people DO NOT!!!!!!
Kelly is obviously so whacked on drugs. .How can anyone not see that, all of screaming and ranting, the candy, sweating, blah, blah, and like most druggies she blabs about out of body. Yeah, out of body overdose. Who wants to see an over the hill addict screaming at a pregnant woman?Phooey.Let her go sit on Hugh Hefner's...lap.
Jill & LuAnne should be dumped from the show and Kelly sent to an asylum! LuAnne is the most classless phony "Countess" who is contstantly stirring the pot. Nasty woman!
Kelly is so crazy, she is over the top, and not at all fun to watch. She makes no sense when she talks and it is so evident that her problems with Bethheny stem from jealousy. Please do not renew her contract next year.

Too bad the only person gossiping was Kelly! I was in shock the whole episode watching her ridiculously bizarre behavior; couldn't believe it wasn't staged.
she continued to act insane while talking to ramona at that ridiculous ice skating party and while trying to explain herself to luann and jill, the woman is mentally insane. As for that being a breakdown, idk, i think she is dangerous, look what she did to her exboyfriend, she has a very manly body. The oversized bully kelly needs to be committed to a mental institution right away, i cant believe she wasnt taken in a straight jacket that night off the island (or maybe she was?) She even twisted what her own daughter said about her working hard for them, nutjob kelly twisted that as an insult? She is so jealous of bethenny, hence all her schizophrenia lashes out at bethenny, thank god bethenny is safe and away with her hubby and baby on their own show, i feared for her life and all the ladies lives that night. love ramona this season and sonja is great too. Cant wait to see bethenny's new show.
I have to pipe in the the women Kelly not only looks looks like a tranny, has saggy skin, flat butt, crooked b oobs, lack of years of using sunblock, she is angry, hostle, bitter, jealous beyond belief, mentally impaired, immature and and insecure and the list goes on. The later is where her ture colors lie. They are not pretty, however pretty ugly. I am watching the show on DVR right now and am shocked how they even allowed her on the trip let alone stayed as sane as they did. Ramona spent all that money for looney tunes to ruin it, shame on her! I would be hiding out in a hole forever if I was her I can't wait for Bethanys show!!!!!!!!!!
To TweetMaxne - As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Apparently you desperately need GLASSES! Kelly prettier than Bethenny? With Kelly's shoulders she could be an NFL linebacker! But that's genetic and there's not much she can do about it except have some sense about how to dress to deflect and enhance her upper body to look more feminine. Bethenny is some kind of woman in my book...she's not only beautiful on the outside, but where it counts most, on the inside. She has worked hard for many, many years and now is enjoying the fruits of all HER labor. Not only is she gifted with loving and kind characteristics, she has an innate ability to read people and filter out those who would do her harm. She's honest, delightful and I love her quick on-target wit that is phenomenal. May God continue to bless her, Jason and baby, Bryn. Kelly is just a jealous b-ahhhhhtch.
I feel torn about this women. She is so bitter, jealous and angry, but more then anything mentally unstable. Maybe chemical imbalance or ongoing drug use. I couldn't believe that if her ex-husband loved his children why would he allow her to raise those girls or allow her to have them on TV to be so embarrassed, he can't be blind or not told by now. Please, this is where another parent or someone needs to step in and protect the minors. I would love to see her get the help she really needs for the sake of her children because this is beyond crazy, funny behavior anymore. If I was Bethany or a boyfriend I would be afraid of being hurt or worse. I know that she has a criminal past but does anyone see her as a violent stalker like I do??? Sonya hit the nail on the head when she made a comment about her being ill, I think that was a light bulb moment for alot of viewers. Plus I'm surprised that she always goes after Bethany, she seems to be afraid about saying anything bad in front of the other women so that's why I confused about her mental behavior. Is it just evil jealousy or a mental illness, makes you go hmmmm. As the another person comments below, Bravo step in and, protect the unprotected children, They are the innocent victims.
Perhaps Kelly should review ALL the film from that trip Ramona so graciously provided them. She's is so full of crap saying she just couldn't take it. Anytime she's not the center of attention, she acts like an idiot. Her speech and brain are not communicating, even when not drinking alcohol. She's absolutely wacko - she never makes sense and she's the one of the biggest offender of gossip! And, she is so guilty of telling lies! When confronted with the truth, she denies it. Even with proof!!! I don't know why the other gals put up with her obnoxiousness. She certainly isn't in their league and doesn't deserve to be on the show. Bravo should cancel her contract. She is NOT a necessary part of the team. Let her go!!! We fans of RHONY absolutely abhor having to view her in any of the scenes. In fact, we now tivo it, watch it later and skip through whenever she appears. Kelly: do yourself and your girls a favor - get help!

Professionally speaking, it was very clear to me that Ms. Bensimon was in the midst of a "nervous breakdown" or psychotic episode, possibly brought on by alcohol abuse and stress.
I feel so so sorry for Kelly she's obviously psychologically damaged. None of the things she's saying are correct. It was obvious she was having trouble putting things together and she's being influenced, in a bad way, by Jill(a hipocrite) and the COUNTLESS LuAnn(who's clearly vicious and likes to turn things around for her amaze). These women are definitely hipocrites, they talked behind each other's back. They should take a good look on all the episodes!!
I said it after last season and I'll say it again: get Kelly off of that show! She is seriously ill, either mentally or on drugs and they shouldn't exploit her condition for ratings. She is a very sick woman and no one is safe around her.

Kelly is not well...watching her on this show is really disturbing. She was really mean to Bethenny when she was talking about her father and she's a complete hypocrite.
They're all strange. I don't know anyone who acts like any of them in real life. They're all wannabees, why else would they put themselves out there? Kelly is just brain dead, she does short circuit a lot, not real bright. She make NO sense ever, and I think she's a guy in drag. SCARY and STRANGE
