Lisa Kudrow Slams Friends Movie Reports: It’s Really “Not Happening”

The cast of Friends
Lisa Kudrow slammed reports that a Friends movie is on the way saying it's really not happening and the creators and NBC have put the rumors to rest.

A Friends movie will not be there for you. Putting to bed unending rumors to the contrary, and dashing the hopes of Friends fans everywhere, Lisa Kudrow slammed reports that a Friends reunion on the big screen is in the works. The 49-year-old actress told CNN that the rumors are, indeed, false.

"I knew there wasn't ever a movie. There was never a Friends movie. Ever," she said. "So I've always known it's not happening."

Still, Kudrow admits that she even fell for the rumor — fearing that she had been left out of reuniting with costars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.

"But with this last rumor someone came up with a great graphic with the couch and it looked like a real teaser and I went, 'Wait!' And then someone came up with a fake story and got some publication to buy the lie that there was going to be a reunion, so I saw on Twitter people were posting this article that NBC was really going to do it. And I went, 'Wait a minute, was I not invited? Oh my God, maybe there is one and I wasn't asked to do it,'" she recalled. "I even had a moment where I believed it because everything around it looked real. It was a good setup."

But Kudrow is firmly putting the rumors to rest. "The creators have put them to rest. NBC has," she said. "I don't know who else needs to say, "'It's really not happening.'"

Fans can look forward to a mini Friends reunion, however, on Kudrow's Showtime series, Web Therapy, which premiered its third season on July 23. "We had Courteney [Cox] in the first season, [David] Schwimmer in the second season," she said, "and now we have Matt LeBlanc."
