Madonna Tour Stage Collapses, Kills One

A stage being built for a weekend Madonna concert in Marseille, France collapsed today, killing one and injuring six.

"I am devastated to have just received this tragic news," the singer said in a statement. "My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families, along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news." The fire department told the Associated Press that a set at the Stade Velodrome fell apart on top of several workers. The six injured were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the accident is not known yet. Barricades were set up around the stage. The identities of the workers have not been released. The singer, 50, is scheduled to perform in the French port city Sunday.
