Review | The Blind Side

Us Rating: ***

Sandra Bullock shows a new sense of maturity and confidence in the fact-based heart-tugger that earned her an Oscar. She plays a wealthy Southern interior decorator and mom who adopts a homeless high-schooler, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron), then nurtures him all the way to the University of Mississippi. Bullock’s cashmere-wearing heroine personifies the idea that charity begins at home — and she excels as this passionate, takeno- prisoners modern woman. While the script is formulaic, its message still inspires. (Warner Home Video, $29)
