Oscar Snubs: Most Overlooked Films, Stars and Shocking Losses in Academy Awards History

The Dark Knight Rises

Batman is sulking in Gotham City. The film, which concluded director Christopher Nolan's trilogy, never received a nomination in 2012. The franchise was rarely noticed by the academy, and Nolan also failed to receive any nominations for Best Director in 2005's Batman Begins and 2008's The Dark Knight. The only upside? The late Heath Ledger won for Best Supporting Actor for his remarkable transformation as The Joker in The Dark Knight, one year after his tragic death.
