FOX Orders Additional Episodes of Glee

Tuesday – September 22, 2009 – 10:19am

Glee fans rejoice!

The FOX network announced Tuesday that it will add nine episodes to the original 13 the show's cast has already finished shooting.

"It's fantastic to be the first show picked up and that this underdog series, like its characters, will get the chance to keep singing," said executive producer Ryan Murphy in a statement. "There are so many more stories to tell. We're grateful for the incredible passion shown by everyone involved — the unbelievable fans, the cast, crew, our partners at the network and studio and even music artists and labels."

The show's pilot, which aired as a teaser last summer, took in a respectable 10.7 million viewers in the time slot after the season 8 American Idol performance show featuring Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

Meet the Glee cast in this exclusive Usmagazine.com video interview!

On this Wednesday's episode, fan favorite character Kurt (Chris Colfer) shows off his moves pulling double duty on the glee club and as the football team's newest member.

The episode's big song-and-dance sequence (past routines have included Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" and Salt-n-Pepa's "Push It")? Beyonce's famed "Single Ladies."

"The “Single Ladies” dance will probably haunt me for the rest of my life," Colfer -- who takes lead in the routine -- joked to Usmagazine.com. "I will probably be forty and be doing it at Bar Mitzvahs! It look a lot of work, ‘cuz I’m not a dancer, I’ve never danced before except for like, in the bathroom at home when no one is looking."

As terrific as the musical numbers are, that's how painful some of the plot lines are, especially those involving the blonde gym teacher. I hate to think I'm going to have to stop watching this show because the dialogue makes my skin crawl. More singing, less talk --- unless they writers can make it less stupid, offensive and irritating.
