Anna Faris knows no limits when it comes to comedy — and it's all thanks to Scary Movie director Keenan Ivory Wayans.
"He gave me the most valuable advice," The Dictator actress tells V's Americana Issue (on stands May 10). "He said, 'There's no vanity in comedy.' And that was such a liberating thought. I cling to that idea."
Faris, who's headlined comedies like Smiley Face, The House Bunny and What's Your Number?, says she's "not crazy about snarky or catty humor. I'd much prefer to make myself the butt of the joke."
The actress does just that in The Dictator, playing a hippie who runs a food co-op. The movie also stars Sacha Baron Cohen.
"I've been a part of some crazy movies, but never something quite like this," Faris, who's been married to Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt since 2009, tells V. "Sacha is an insane genius. It's exciting to be around him, but also terrifying. You really don't know what he's going to do."
