A tragic loss. Nick Foles revealed that he has been absent from the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice because his wife, Tori Foles, suffered a miscarriage.
“This has been a tough last week,” the quarterback, 30, wrote via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, May 29. “We are trusting the Lord throughout this process. Tori has written a beautiful post explaining what is on our hearts as well as the gratitude to those who have reached out with love, support and prayers.”
In a post of her own, his wife, 28, shared their story. “As several of you knew, we were about 15 weeks pregnant with our 2nd baby,” Tori wrote on Instagram. “Early Sunday morning after a rough couple days fighting a ‘virus’ of some sort, I went into sudden labor and knew something was wrong. Not long after we learned we had miscarried our baby boy. To fully labor and deliver and even see our baby boy was a pretty devastating process.”
She added: “Come to find that I had contracted an infection of pneumonia in the blood. The emotions go back and forth from immense and overwhelming sadness, confusion and anger to a firm belief that God has this fully in his hands and will use this for good. We cannot always understand or explain, but we know that is true.”
Tori went on to say that she was home from the hospital and “recovering physically from the infection with antibiotics (already much better) as well as emotionally from this traumatic loss.”
On Tuesday, May 28, Nick’s NFL team announced he would be skipping organized team activities for “a personal reason.”
The athlete and his wife welcomed their first child together, Lily, in June 2017.
“Lily James Foles was born a healthy 8 pounds, 4 ounces,” Tori wrote on Instagram when their daughter arrived. “What an incredible week it has been.”
