It may take two, but the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, are splitting up and getting their own separate covers for the December 2013 issue of Allure Magazine. The covers feature the former child stars looking fresh-faced and natural, and each sister’s cover will be distributed equally across newsstands and to subscribers.
In the winter issue, the girls open up about their struggles with critics’ stereotypes, especially the notion that they “have everything.”
“[Strangers assume we] had enough money to just do nothing-or why would we go to college? And it’s such an uneducated perspective,” Mary-Kate told the publication. “You still have to grow within a business. You have to take a chance.”

Now they’re working hard on their fashion lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James. The twins are becoming important voices in the fashion world, and Allure asked them for their opinions on today’s trendsetters like Michelle Obama and Rihanna, who wear their clothes.
Mary-Kate has continued acting sporadically with a 2007 appearance on Weeds and in the 2011 Vanessa Hudgens movie Beastly, but Ashley gave up the craft completely.
“I was reading scripts, and ultimately I just said to the people who were representing me, ‘I need to do things 100 percent. I don’t feel like I can give you 100 percent of my time,'” Ashley said. “There’s a lot of compromise in the entertainment industry. I can’t sit in this room and audition for this part.”
But above all they rely on each other, even at age 27.
“[Our bond is] beyond words,” Ashley said. “We both carry the weight of each other.”
The December issue of Allure goes on sale on Nov. 19, 2013.
