You know that feeling when you’re making a huge hair change that you’re not totally sure about?
Well, Shailene Woodley actually caught that moment on film when she had her hair chopped off for her role in The Fault in Our Stars. And it’s as amazing as it sounds.
As seen in the video of the haircut on August 16, 2013, the stylist works her scissors through multiple thick ponytails, while Woodley, who plays teen cancer patient Hazel Grace, covers her eyes and says, “I might cry so hard, you guys.”
As the stylist hands her lengthy locks over one by one, the Divergent star is hesitant to look at her new bob length, instead furrowing her brows in disbelief. When Woodley finally does take her new look in, there’s a bit of apprehension, but mostly awe.
“It was a super-fun moment,” she told MTV of the cut.
Shortly before getting the big chop, Woodley opined on her Tumblr about her connection to her long hair and shared that she would donate her hair to Children With Hair Loss. “Not only do I have the opportunity to externally shift my current establishment of self, but I have the blessed gift of donating my long locks to a wonderful organization who will then create a wig for someone in need,” she wrote. “What an honor.”
