If anyone knows what Joe and Teresa Giudice are really going through, it's Andy Cohen. The Bravo host told Entertainment Tonight that despite the couple's "strong bond," the reality of their prison sentencing is hitting them hard.
"They are going to be apart for a long time," Cohen said. "I think they've got a really strong bond, but it's just so hard," the Watch What Happens Live host added of the couple, who were respectively sentenced to 41 and 15 months behind bars following pleading guilty to numerous counts of fraud.
"For both of them, family comes first, and they're family," Cohen added. "They've been together for years. They're high school sweethearts."
Cohen was first to sit down with Joe and Teresa, just one day after the couple learned the repercussions of their crimes on Oct. 2.
In a two-part sit down interview on WWHL, the couple held hands and apologized to one another. "I want to apologize that I got you into this mess," Joe told his wife in front of Cohen and millions of viewers. "I don't even know what else to say. If I could take it all back, I would but I just can't and I'm sorry you have to go through all this. I tried everything I could to convince the judge not [to convict you] but I have no control over that."
Teresa, for her part, accepted her husband's apology and said: "I love you…you just have to be there for our daughters."
Together the couple share daughters Gia, 13, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 5. As previously reported, Teresa will serve her sentence first beginning Jan. 5, allowing their children to not be without a parent.
