Sure, we know Charles is A heading into the show’s season 6 premiere, but that doesn’t mean things in Pretty Little Liars‘ Rosewood will go back to normal anytime soon. In fact, Pretty Little Liars‘ Sasha Pieterse wouldn’t be surprised if more A-Team revelations come to light in the first batch of the season’s episodes.
“I honestly think Charles is the A, but knowing [series creator] Marlene [King], I might be wrong,” Pieterse told Us Weekly during a chat promoting PLL‘s June 2 premiere. As King told Us in March, more than one fan has zeroed in on how the entire PLL story will end, but that doesn’t stop Pieterse from placing her bets. “My favorite theory is that Charles and Maya are working together,” Pieterse told Us of Emily’s ex-girlfriend who died in Season 2’s “UnmAsked.”
“After Maya died, I’ve constantly heard theories that she faked her death and she’s part of The A Team. I think it’s pretty brilliant actually,” the actress reasoned. “You never saw her dead body, you only saw her body bag. You never know!”
Though theories are often the only thing fans have to go on between seasons, Pieterse hinted that her character Alison’s innocence should not be doubted, and that there’s virtually no chance she’s guilty of other Rosewood crimes. “Ali has finally decided to be an honest, genuine person. Now that all of her secrets are on the table, she has nothing she can hide. She has no choice than to be a real person,” Pieterse told Us. “It’s really refreshing to see her deal with her inner demons and face the Rosewood community.”
Pieterse hinted that when Ali and her fellow Liars — Aria (Lucy Hale), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), and Emily (Shay Mitchell) — eventually escape the chamber of doom, the show’s five-year time jump won’t be kind to everyone.
“We’ve spent so long trying to keep everything a secret, and to now get to reveal everything feels so strange — in a good way!” she said. “I’m so happy to reward our fans with the answers they deserve.”
Pretty Little Liars‘ sixth season premieres Tuesday, June 2 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
