No piece of clothing has ever contributed more to society than Justin Theroux’s gray sweatpants. You know the ones. The workout clothes became famous on the first season of his HBO series The Leftovers when they revealed the actor’s sizable package during a jogging scene in the pilot.
The scene (and the photos taken while he was shooting) still lives on in many Theroux fans’ memories, but don’t expect any repeats. In a recent interview with E! News, Theroux noted that his Leftovers character, Kevin Garvey, will no longer be donning his now-famous sweatpants.
“Not anymore!” Theroux, 44, said. “We’re done with that. Too much jogging. It was like, ‘Okay, throw the sweatpants out!'”
This isn’t the first time he’s addressed the frenzy surrounding his … erm, goods. Back in September 2014, Conan O’Brien asked Theroux about his attention-grabbing jog, and the actor gave fans the full story.
“The true story is that I didn’t know that was a thing,” he told the redheaded host. “There’s two jogging scenes in the show — there’s one in the pilot episode and then one a little bit later. When I went to go get my wardrobe for the second jogging scene way later, there were my jogging pants and then there were two pairs of underwear.”
One person who loves Theroux with or without his sweatpants is his new wife, Jennifer Aniston.
“It’s really nice to say ‘my wife,’” he told E! News. “No, I’m not [used to saying it], and I don’t want to get used to saying it for a while. It’s nice to drop the fiancee moniker. There’s a certain ease that comes with it that’s really nice. I can’t quite describe it. You know it when you see it and you feel it when you feel it. I didn’t have any expectation of how it would feel. I just knew I wanted to do it.”
