Coolest parents ever? President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama didn’t just host their annual (and final) White House Halloween party on Monday, October 31. The couple showed off some of their dance skills thanks to Michael Jackson’s 1982 classic “Thriller.”
The Obamas celebrated the spooky holiday with more than 4,000 people from 15 local elementary schools and military families. The commander in chief, 55, first addressed the crowd, encouraging the kids to eat as many sweet treats as they’d like.
“You guys all look scary, or cool, or whatever you’re trying to be. Many of you look awesome. We hope you have a great time. We hope, parents, that on this day at least, you don’t have to pay attention to Michelle and healthy eating,” he teased.
FLOTUS, 52, chimed in: “Candy for everybody.”
“And in fact, the more candy, the later you eat the candy, the better,” Barack said, as parents laughed. “Because I think that you being up all night with a sugar rush is exactly what your parents are looking for.”
POTUS and Michelle then stepped away from the podium as music played. They briefly moved their arms, recreating key zombie moves from the late King of Pop’s “Thriller” music video.
Afterward, they helped to hand out candy to attendees. Per USA Today, some of the treats included Fruits Bars, Hershey’s Kisses, Kettle Corn and cookies.
