Better call Rachel for "good hair" advice! In her first interview since Beyoncé fans dubbed her the "Becky with the good hair" (in reference to the drama surrounding the singer's song "Sorry") Rachel Roy is giving the down-low on exactly how she keeps her tresses in line.
First thing's first: Roy has dyed her hair only once, and she considers that a misstep. "I just wanted to know what I would look like as a light brunette, but it wasn't a good look for me," the fashion designer, 42, told Into the Gloss.
Now, the mother of two's only treatment is to make her hair shinier. "I go to [celebrity colorist] Tracey Cunningham for a gloss, to brighten it, and then someone at her salon Meche cuts it,” Roy, who was married to record producer Damon Dash from 2005 to 2009, explained. "On occasion, I do get oil treatments where they put oil on your scalp row by row and then massage you for 30 minutes. It's amazing, because my scalp gets dry."
And, in the great to-shampoo-or-not-to-shampoo debate, Roy falls closer to the latter. "I wash my hair only about once a week. I'm a dry shampoo girl because of that," she noted. "I can get a blowout to last me a whole week."
Roy saved her best advice for last: how to get a nonsurgical face-lift in no time flat. "If I get styled, I like braids or a ponytail," she said. "I like it done really high and tight, because it gives your face a little lift."
