Fairy godmothers are real, and one of them is Gina Rodriguez! The Jane the Virgin star promised Jessica Casanova from Buffalo, New York, that the teen could wear her Golden Globes dress to prom, and finally, on Thursday, May 26, Casanova’s dreams came true.
Casanova first reached out to Rodriguez, 31, in January on Twitter, asking if she could wear the Zac Posen dress the actress wore to the 2016 Globes. Rodriguez explained that she didn’t have that one available, but she offered one better: her body-hugging 2015 Globes dress by Badgley Mischka, which she wore while picking up the award for best actress in a TV comedy.

Rodriguez had the dress shipped to the teen in February, and even paid for the alterations it needed, including a zipper replacement and corset strings. According to the Associated Press, the actress also sent a sweet personalized video message to Casanova.

In reply, the teen tweeted a classic prom photo of herself and her date, which she captioned, “We slayed.” Rodriguez retweeted the pic and added, “You certainly did.”
Like a true Cinderella, Casanova had to send the dress back to Rodriguez, but she tweeted that she hopes more girls can wear the dress to their own special events.
