Not so cool for the summer. Demi Lovato revealed in a recent interview that she had to return her sphynx cat, Hairy-ette, one day after adopting her.
“I actually couldn’t keep the cat, I had to give it back the next day because I’m allergic,” the “Confident” singer, 23, told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, May 25. “I thought I wouldn’t be because it didn’t have any hair!”
In late April, Lovato surprised fans with her new pet, introducing the hairless cat to social media via Snapchat.
“Hey world, say ‘hi’ to Hairy-Ette,” she gushed in the video on April 25. In the video, the former Disney star happily played with her new furless friend, snuggling with her and captioning a series of photos, “already in love with each other.”
Problems clearly arose, however, when Lovato realized just how allergic she was to Hairy-Ette. In one photo, the singer’s eyes look red and her cheeks flush as she poses cheek-to-cheek with the cat.
“As my face is swelling …”she captioned the snap. In another, she smiles tight-lipped at the camera as Hairy-ette rests on her chest.
“So allergic it’s not even funny but I’m keeping her cause zero f–ks,” she captioned the show.
The animal-lover is already owner to fuzzy black pup Batman, who will accompany the “Stone Cold” singer on tour (with Nick Jonas!) this summer.
