Toni Collette

Born in November 1972 in Blacktown, Australia, Toni Collette first showed skills in acting when she faked appendicitis out of boredom; her act was so convincing that doctors had to remove her appendix, even though the test showed nothing wrong with it!
That dramatic flare carried through in her first lead role, in 1994’s Australian film Muriel’s Wedding. In 1995, she came to Hollywood and her big American debut was in 1999’s The Sixth Sense, which got her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She has also stared in 2002’s The Hours, 2006’s Little Miss Sunshine, and 2007’s Evening, among others.
Collette married Dave Galafassi in 2003. Together, they have two children, daughter Sage Florence, who was born in January 2008, and son Arlo Robert, who they welcomed in April 2011. In December 2022, the actress announced that she and her husband had split after 19 years of marriage.
