The Sweet Activity Duchess Meghan’s Guests Did Together at Her Baby Shower

A good time had by all! The celebrities who attended Duchess Meghan’s baby shower in New York City on Wednesday, February 20, got to participate in a fun activity during the event.

Gayle King, who was one of the stars who celebrated with the 37-year-old royal, told CBS This Morning costars that Meghan “brought in somebody to explain how to arrange flowers,” so that each of her guests could create their own arrangement. The creations were then donated to charities in NYC.

“I’ve never seen anything like this at a baby shower,” King, 64, said on Thursday, February 21. “I mean, it just speaks to who [Meghan] is. She’s very kind, she’s very generous. [She’s] a really, really sweet person … it was a very, very small private affair and just a very special time for her.”

The Note to Self author added that the Suits alum (née Markle) “got in touch with … Repeat Roses,” an organization that takes flowers from events and donates them to hospitals, nursing homes and more.

“We were honored to match the beautiful floral arrangements designed by the Duchess of Sussex and her guests, including host @serenawilliams, to a few of our very favorite NYC neighbor organizations,” the organization wrote via Instagram on Thursday. “The gesture of kindness brought smiles and an emotional health boost to pediatric cancer patients at @rmhnewyork, cancer patients at the @hopelodgenyc and to behaviorally and medically fragile men at the @uniquepeopleservices Vyse Avenues Program. The flowers brought a ray of sunshine on a cold winter day, and will be greatly enjoyed for the week ahead.”

Floral designer Lewis Miller confirmed to Us Weekly that he taught the the shower’s attendees “how to make a beautiful, medium-sized arrangement.” He divulged to Us: “Lewis Miller Design transformed the solarium of the The Mark Hotel’s penthouse suite into a charming, old-world flower shop with hand-painted tables, custom linens and screens covered with vintage botanical prints.

Miller added: “Placed in beautifully weather-galvanized buckets, Miller curated an ombre effect of fresh flowers ranging in colors, from soft corals and pinks, mossy greens and frosty lemons to deep jeweled toned magentas and plums. Flowers included garden roses, coral charm peonies, Japanese lisianthus, sweet peas and ranunculus.”

Meghan’s star-studded baby shower was held at The Mark Hotel in the Big Apple. Celebs including Amal Clooney, Jessica Mulroney, Serena Williams and Abigail Spencer attended the event and munched on delicious baby-themed cookies and cotton candy.
