Proud grandpa! Gigi Hadid’s father, Mohamed Hadid, penned a poem to the model and her boyfriend, Zayn Malik’s baby.
“In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful, in peace, my love, Gigi,” Mohamed, 71, wrote in Arabic via Instagram on Wednesday, September 16. “In the name of God The merciful I want to say l love you and so proud of you. @gigihadid.”
The real estate mogul shared a handwritten note, that has since been deleted, titled, “Grandpa’s Heart” to the couple’s firstborn child, five months after the pair announced they are expecting.
“Hello little grandchild, it is me, my heart as happy as can be,” the poem read. “I wish for you the sun & moon, I wish for you a happy time. Know that grandpa’s always near, to do anything, anything for you my dear.”
The Israel native hinted at his grandchild’s arrival adding, “when I heard you were on the way, I smiled and wiped a tear away. I cried the tear because I know, my heart would always belong to you.”
Mohamed finished the touching tribute by signing his name and adding a heart design at the top of the paper.
The real estate developer’s sweet words caused speculation that his daughter Gigi, 25, is either in labor or has already given birth to her first child with Malik, 27.
One Instagram user commented that Mohamed’s use of the Arabic phrase “safety my love Gigi” indicated that the California native is in labor. “We say ‘with safety and’ when the mom gives birth.”
After one fan asked if Gigi had welcomed her baby, Mohamed replied, “no not yet.”
Other eagle-eyed fans pointed out that Gigi’s sister, Bella Hadid’s Instagram post one day prior could also be teasing the little one’s upcoming arrival.
“June 11, 2020 …🖤two buns in the oven except mine is from my burger and gigi’s is from @zayn ✨👼🏼✨,” Bella, 23, captioned a sister snap on Tuesday, September 15, showing off a pregnant Gigi and a food baby on herself. “I love you both so freaking much -can’t stopcrying 🥺.”
The Hadid-Hilfiger capsule collection designer shared the same photo on her Instagram Story on Tuesday with “🥰” written alongside it.
Last month, Gigi hinted at her due date when she posted a black-and-white photo from her July maternity shoot and wrote, “33 weeks” next to it.
Us Weekly confirmed in April that she and the former One Direction singer had a baby on the way.
Later that month, Gigi addressed her pregnancy while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Obviously, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes.”
The couple began dating in 2015 but split three years later. They got back together in January, following a brief reconciliation and subsequent breakup.
Mohamed, for his part, shares daughters Gigi and Bella and son Anwar, 21, with ex-wife Yolanda Hadid. He also shares daughters Marielle, 40, and Alana, 35, with ex-wife Mary Butler.
