“We always have plans that we want to have kids in 2020 or 2021,” the Bachelorette alum, 30, told Us Weekly exclusively. “But I feel like we might have some sooner.”

His fiancée added that they want two or three. “It’s really about the gender,” the journalist, 30, said. “Because I want a boy to have another brother or a girl to have a sister. But I also need to have a girl. … I think that when you do the math, it equals out to three.”

She added: “[Jared] knows he’s going to deal with a handful when it comes to pregnant Ashley. I always say, ‘It’s totally fine, I can go live with my parents for nine months. It may be the best that way.’ My mom would cater to me so much.”

But first, their nuptials! The Bachelor alum, who competed for Chris Soules‘ affection on season 19, and her fiancé, who competed on Kaitlyn Bristowe‘s season of the Bachelorette in 2015, got engaged in June 2018 and are prepping for a Rhode Island wedding — and part of that prep has involved dieting. The two are getting in shape for their big day as South Beach Diet ambassadors.

“I’ve actually lost 5 pounds,” Haibon admitted. “I weighed myself at the gym. … Guys’ weight fluctuates a little bit, but I lost a few pounds already.”

As for his fiancée, she said her stomach slimmed down after only five days on the diet. “Of course, I’m young, so it’s easy to tone up really quick, but I remember how flat my stomach was, and I hadn’t seen it like that in a while,” the bride-to-be told Us. “It was really exciting.”

In addition to dieting and family planning together, the pair also took on a new project this year — a children’s book. Lucy and Clark: A Story of Puppy Love will be released on March 26, 2019.

Haibon summarized the story, which is full of fun nuggets for Bachelor Nation fans: “It’s loosely based upon our love story, but really it’s a story about overcoming your fears and stepping outside your comfort zone.”
