Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck continue to be among Hollywood’s most cordial coparents. The Peppermint star didn’t let a night out with her three children stand in the way of a phone call with her ex-husband.
An insider tells Us Weekly that the 46-year-old actress was spending time with her and Affleck’s kids by the Amazon bookstore in the Palisades Village area of California on Sunday, October 7, when the Batman star, 46, called her phone.
“While she was sitting with her kids she said, ‘Oh, Daddy is calling!’ in a nice voice to them and put them on the phone with Ben,” the insider tells Us. “They all walked to Starbucks afterwards and seemed like they were having a fun family night out.” (Affleck was in Montana with new flame Shauna Sexton at the time.)
The insider notes that the Pearl Harbor actress “was dressed very low-key and didn’t have makeup on, so one was bothering her,” adding that people didn’t even recognize her.
Garner’s outing with Violet, 12, Seraphina, 9, and Samuel, 6, comes just days after she and Affleck finalized their divorce after separating in 2015 after 10 years of marriage.
A source told Us on Friday, October 5, that “It was important to Jen that Ben be in a positive headspace” before finalizing the end of their marriage. Affleck recently completed a 40-day treatment program for his battle with alcoholism.
The Alias alum opened up about her family’s plans for Halloween — which include the actor — during an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that aired on Monday, October 8.
“So, my son will have big blue eyes,” Garner dished of her kids’ homemade ghost decorations. “And they’ll make their dad with a lot of scruff. And they’ll make me with long hair and glasses and probably a bun on her head.”
