Kate plus … 18-year-old twins! Jon and Kate Gosselin’s twin daughters, Cara and Maddie, became legal adults on Monday, October 8.
The 43-year-old TLC star shared an inside look at her daughters’ birthday celebration via Instagram.
“Getting ready………it’s a BIG busy day here! More to come….” Kate captioned photos of a birthday cake, customized M&Ms and an 18th birthday-themed place setting on Monday. She went to on gush about how proud she is of her daughters.
“HAPPY 18th Birthday, Cara and Madelyn! There are no words to describe how proud I am of you both. Despite the many turbulent times you’ve had to deal with so far in life, you have emerged as wise, level headed, reasonable, forgiving, loving, kind and absolutely brilliant ADULTS!” she wrote. “I can say that I’ve poured endless love into you and fought tooth and nail for the best for you, but I cannot possibly take credit for the truly wonderful humans (adult humans!) you have become! You will thrive in life, I am certain, and I will still be with you every step of the way going forward, continuing to guide you and love you😘😘. “
She concluded: “I love you both so very very much and I wish peace, happiness and the great successes I know are coming your way! #Turning18 #Adults #Love❤️❤️ #Happy18thBirthdayCara 🎂🎈🎁#Happy18thBirthdayMady 🎂🎈🎁.”
Jon also shared a birthday message for the girls on Instagram, simply writing, “Happy 18th birthday!!! To my twin girls, Mady & Cara!!! Love, Dad.” He added a red heart emoji as the caption.
The Gosselin family, which also includes now 14-year-old sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Joel, rose to fame in 2007 on the TLC series John and Kate Plus 8. After Jon and Kate split in 2009 following cheating allegations, the show was renamed Kate Plus 8 and ran on and off on the network until 2017.
Kate shared a photo of six of her eight kids all grown up in August. Collin and Hannah are noticeably absent from the pic. While the 14-year-old boy is enrolled in a program away from home, Hannah lives with her father, according to Jon. Kate last posted a photo of her three sextuplet daughters together in May.
