Batkid to the rescue! One little boy lived his dream of a lifetime as he became Batkid for a day in San Francisco on Friday, Nov. 15. The Make-A-Wish foundation fulfilled the dream of Miles, 5, who was diagnosed with leukemia at 18 months old, but ended his treatments in June and is now in remission. During his special day, San Francisco turned into Batman's Gotham City, and thousands of bystanders cheered as Miles saved the city from some of DC Comics' most iconic villains — including The Joker and The Penguin.
During the adventure, Patricia Wilson, executive director of the Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area chapter, outlined several crimes that Miles was asked to solve before being celebrated at a special ceremony hosted by the mayor.
The heartwarming event inspired President Barack Obama to film and tweet a Vine video. "Way to go Miles, way to save Gotham!" he posted.
Batkid's crime-fighting spectacle also got the attention of several other celebrities, as the word "Batkid" began to trend via Twitter. Among those who reacted to Miles' touching story were Elizabeth Banks, Enrique Iglesias, Anna Kendrick and Nick Lachey. Read on for their reactions, and others:
