Do you take this man to be your preacher? Billy Ray Cyrus sat down with Us Weekly Video for a Facebook Live interview on Thursday, June 2, and chatted about the possibility of his officiating at daughter Miley Cyrus‘ wedding to on-again beau Liam Hemsworth.
Billy Ray, 54 — who stars on the new CMT show Still the King as a washed-up country singer turned Elvis impersonator who pretends to be a minister to earn money — first floated the idea during an appearance on the Today show on June 1. “They’re really happy together right now,” he said of Miley and the Hunger Games actor. “They know if they need a preacher, they’ve found one.”
Asked about the prospect by Us Weekly Video, the “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner offered up his services to other brides- and grooms-to-be. “I will dress as Elvis Presley and do your wedding,” he joked, alluding to his role on his new scripted series. “I am a hooker. I can be bought.”
The “Wrecking Ball” singer, 23, and her love, 26, met while filming the 2010 Nicholas Sparks movie The Last Song. They got engaged two years later, only to split in September 2013.
In January 2016, though, the lovebirds reunited in Hemsworth’s native Australia. And though the actor — who Billy Ray calls a “good man” — has denied that they’re engaged again, Miley began wearing her engagement ring not long after, and a source told Us that she was planning their wedding. More recently, an insider said they were looking for venues Down Under.
