Contrary to reports, Brad Pitt is not being investigated by LAPD for child abuse following his recent split from Angelina Jolie, the Los Angeles Police Department tells Us Weekly. Find out more in the video above, and detailed below.
An earlier report from TMZ claimed that the LAPD and L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services were looking into an incident in which Pitt allegedly became “verbally abusive and physical” with his children, citing a specific incident on the couple’s private jet last week.
“LAPD is not handling any report or allegations into child abuse for Mr. Brad Pitt,” the LAPD told Us Weekly in a statement on Thursday, September 22.
According to the Public Information Officer for the LAPD, “We don’t have anything on Brad Pitt right now. We have confirmed with the detectives, and according to our detectives there are no active investigations regarding Brad Pitt.”
As Us Weekly previously reported, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after 12 years together and two years of marriage. The pair, who met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004, share six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. The Maleficent star requested sole physical custody of the kids.
“This decision was made for the health of the family,” Jolie’s rep told Us in a statement on Tuesday, “She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”
