It was a star-studded Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Show on Sunday, Feb. 15 — so it was guaranteed to be a star-studded afterparty too.
But guests attending the bash at New York's Plaza Hotel got even more than they expected when guest MC Jimmy Fallon kicked off the festivities with an all-star Blues Brothers performance featuring musicians Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift, and Dan Aykroyd.
Swift and McCartney showed off their double talents, singing while also playing guitar, while Aykroyd and Fallon joined in with the vocals energetically.
"Bring it #fallon #McCartney #Swift #Akeroyd #belushi #SNL40 Plaza Hotel #nyc," restaurateur Bruce Bozzi captioned a cool black and white snap he took at the party and shared via Instagram, while DJ Cassidy shared an amazing video of Swift and Fallon dancing to "Shake it Off."
"Taylor was dancing and blowing kisses to the girls from HAIM," an audience member told Us Weekly of the performance. When his guest stars left the stage, Fallon continued to host the remainder of the gig. "He was the main MC/singer on the stage for the whole concert," the guest continued.
Other stars to collaborate with Fallon included Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande, who backed up the singer with Debbie Harry. "They looked cute singing into the same microphone," our insider told Us.
Later Michael Bolton took to the stage (with Fallon and Grande as backup), and then Fallon announced that it was Grande's turn to take center-stage and sing Aretha Franklin's "Respect," much to audience member Emma Stone's delight!
Finally Prince came up on stage, this time joined by SNL’s own Maya Rudolph. "Prince is joined by Beyonce," Fallon announced as his SNL buddy walked on the stage, referring to Rudolph's amazing on-screen performance as the "XO" singer earlier that night.
"Maya was clearly a huge Prince fan and sang backup,” the guest added of Rudolph’s energetic performance. “[She knew] every word to the song.”
