The silver fox is the arm candy in this relationship! George Clooney gushed about his wife, British lawyer Amal Alamuddin, during Stephen Colbert’s Late Show debut on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Clooney, 54, may win on the red carpet, but Alamuddin triumphs in court — and he knows it. Colbert knows it too, apparently, because he asked the two-time Oscar winner what it’s like to be “the arm candy” in the relationship.
“Because she’s a very serious person. She must say, ‘We’re going to meet some extremely intelligent people tonight,'” the Late Show host, 51, explained. Clooney joked: “[I feel] shiny and pretty. That’s mostly what I do now.”
Clooney and the human rights activist, 37, tied the knot in a star-studded, lavish ceremony at Venice’s Aman Canal Grande Hotel in Italy in September 2014. “They said it wouldn’t last,” the famed former bachelor quipped on Tuesday, laughing off past critics.
To lighten the mood — and because the Money Monster actor didn’t have anything real to promote — Clooney then debuted a trailer for a hilarious fake movie titled Decision Strike, in which he plays a United Nations secretary-general.
“Not now, I’m making love to a woman, it’s very romantic,” Clooney says in the clip, while simultaneously diffusing a bomb. He added commentary to Colbert, joking: “Sex sells. I do all my own sex!”
