Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen frequently discussed the keys to a long marriage before their split.

The American Pie actor and the Live Fast Die Hot author met on the set of My Best Friend’s Girl in 2007. They got engaged in January 2008 and eloped in a private ceremony later that year. Biggs and Mollen welcomed sons Sid and Lazlo in 2014 and 2017, respectively.

“14 years ago, two people who’d known each other for only 9 months drove to a Calabasas FedEx Kinkos in their pajamas and got married,” Mollen wrote via Instagram in April 2022. “Who knows if that FedEx was even real or a figment of our imaginations or if the woman who married us was a licensed justice of the peace or just some down-on-her-luck actress looking to make a quick 300 bucks. We may never know if our union is truly recognized by the state of California or if what happened that Earth Day wasn’t just some psychedelic mushroom trip, but what has come out of it has been mind-bending, life-altering, and nothing short of a miracle.”

A rep for Mollen and Biggs confirmed to Us Weekly in May 2026 that the pair had separated after 18 years of marriage. However, they remain on “great terms” and are committed to coparenting their kids.

Jenny Mollen Was Jason Biggs’ ‘Wake-Up Call’ to Get Sober

Biggs has been sober since 2017 following a years-long struggle with drug and alcohol abuse. During a January 2026 appearance on The View, the actor credited Mollen with helping him realize he needed to change.

“When Jenny got pregnant, that was sort of a wake-up call for me,” he explained. “They say you got to get sober for yourself. I agree and disagree. I believe that when you first get sober, whatever the reason is, it doesn’t matter. Whether it’s for someone else, your family — ‘Jenny was pregnant, I got to get sober’ — whatever it is.”

Jenny Mollen Gushed About Jason Biggs as a Parent

Mollen called Biggs a “great partner” when it comes to parenting during a 2022 appearance on People’s “Every Day” podcast.

“Jason is so hands-on as a parent, almost too hands-on,” she said at the time. “I always say that he’s like the guy that like, when I go scuba diving, he’s the one like checking all my gear. He’s like the buddy that never stops futzing with you. Or like if you’re on a ski slope, he’s, like, adjusting your goggles. Or if you’re like on an airplane that’s crashing, he’s the person that you’re like, ‘Just get the f*** away from me. Stop adjusting my oxygen mask. We’re gonna crash anyway.’”

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen Advocated for Couples Therapy

According to Biggs and Mollen, couples therapy should be the standard in all marriages.

“We have been getting along at the end of the day because we have a therapist,” Mollen said in 2016. “You need to have a representative convey your thoughts for you sometimes. If it comes out of my mouth, sometimes it just sounds like I’m Jason’s mom.”

Biggs added, “You shouldn’t be married and not have a therapist. You’ve got to do it as a preemptive strike.”

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen Shared What It’s Like to Work With a Spouse

Biggs and Mollen have worked together multiple times over the years, including costarring in the 2016 comedy Amateur Night and cohosting the 2024 reboot of the cooking show Dinner and a Movie.

“It’s always tricky working with your spouse because he’s going to say things to me that he would never say to another actress or cohost, [he] just couldn’t get away with it,” Mollen exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2024.

Biggs joked, “Like what? ‘Show me your boobs?’”

Mollen replied, “‘Show me your boobs.’ ‘Suck my d***.’ I’m just kidding. But you can say to your wife, ‘No, Jenny, don’t do it that way,’ and it can be helpful. … It is more casual, which can be amazing, but it can also lead to a lot of couples’ therapy sessions.”

Jason Biggs Praised Jenny Mollen for Her Honesty

In 2019, Mollen penned an op-ed for Parents.com titled, “I Used to Be Jealous of My Husband’s Ex, Then I Became a Mom.” In the essay, the television host candidly discussed a time when she had an unhealthy obsession with Biggs’ ex-girlfriend.

Biggs exclusively told Us at the time that he thought Mollen’s piece was “really sweet.”

“You know Jenny is so unique, so funny, so likable and so fun and that whole experience sort of encapsulated all of that,” he shared. “But, you know, we change, we grow up. We have kids and life goes on and the girl you stalked has kids. We’re changing and we’re just kind of growing up and for her, she felt like she needed to sort of say something about that and how she is not that person anymore.”

Jenny Mollen and Jason Biggs Were ‘More Intimate Than Ever’ in Quarantine

While some couples felt the strain of spending too much time together during quarantine in the COVID-19 pandemic, Biggs and Mollen believed it brought them even closer.

“I guess we’ve been having more sex,” Mollen exclusively told Us in 2020. “That helps.”

The actress continued, “Because of nothing else, we’ve been married so many years — we’ve been married 13 years — but I do feel like there’s just more, we’re seeing each other a lot more, we’re around each other so much that I guess it could go one of two ways. I’m either like, ‘I want to turn over and see anybody but you,’ or you just get closer. Luckily, this has been a real bonding experience for us. And I think it’s brought us closer. So there’s more intimacy in our relationship than ever. And it feels good.”
