Kaitlyn Bristowe is weighing in on the controversy surrounding Brian Austin Green’s recent comments about seeing a movie “alone,” which many fans interpreted as a dig at fiancée Sharna Burgess while she’s away working as a pro on Dancing With the Stars season 35.
“Brian Austin Green recently came out on his social media talking about how he went to a movie alone,” Bristowe, 41, said during the Tuesday, October 6, episode of her “Off the Vine” podcast. “He’s like, ‘I went to a movie alone, and I’m just going through a lot.’ And he was saying how hard it is that Sharna’s not there with him every day, and she’s with [her DWTS partner Tyler Cameron] every day.”
Green, 53, took to Instagram on September 26 to share a candid video in which he opened up about having a difficult time recently, although he did not mention Burgess, 41, or share why he was feeling down.
“We have a lot of great days, and then some days you have not so much. But we persevere, you know. We get through it. It’ll be OK,” he said at the time. “Just wanted to share with everyone that life does not stop f***ing lifing. It is unpredictable. It is challenging. Welcome to it. We all have these days, but we can be OK.”
On Tuesday’s podcast episode, Bristowe argued that although Green was “saying what a lot of people probably feel in relationships,” it felt inappropriate for him to bring the issue up publicly.
“I feel like he humiliated her on his social media, made her feel bad,” The Bachelor alum continued. “He was basically saying, ‘You’re never home. I am all alone, and like you’re spending every day with Tyler.’ I don’t want to, like, disregard his feelings. If he’s having these feelings, that’s fine. But maybe, like, go to your therapist and not social media and shame your wife while she’s working her ass off and, like, got invited back to do her dream job.”
Us reached out to a rep for Green for comment.
Green and Burgess met in October 2020 and welcomed their son, Zane, in June 2022. The pair got engaged in July 2023. (Green is also a dad to son Kassius, 24, with ex Vanessa Marcil and kids Noah, 14, Bodhi, 12, and Journey, 10, with ex-wife Megan Fox.)
Though Burgess has not addressed her fiancé’s video directly, she did share her own video about mental health soon after.
“DWTS has taught me so much about pushing myself, but I’ve also learned how important it is to take care of my mental health along the way,” she captioned the post.
Meanwhile, Green has supported Burgess’ DWTS journey this season by encouraging fans to vote for her and Cameron, 33.
This season marks Burgess’ return to the ballroom after previously leaving in 2022 to focus on her family. The Australia native gushed exclusively to Us last month that Green has been her “rock.”
“My guy, he’s an absolute legend,” she shared. “Brian, he runs me Epsom salt spas for when I get home. He is taking notes. He’s got food ready for me. He wakes up with me [at] my 5:30 a.m. [alarm] and makes me coffee, like he’s doing everything to hold it down at home and support.”
