The Bachelorette alum Kaitlyn Bristowe says she now believes in “miracles” after her dog came close to dying.

“This was by far the scariest week of my life,” Bristowe, 41, wrote via Instagram on Friday, October 30. “[My dog Pinot] accidentally overdosed on his heart pills. They sent chicken flavored chewable ones instead of his usual ones, and he got into the package and ate 120 pills.”

After Bristowe’s partner rushed the dog to the ER, the “Off the Vine” podcast host got frightening news she will never forget.

“We were told to say goodbye, and I can’t even type that without sobbing,” she said. “He was on a ventilator and was having seizures. Had a 20 percent chance to make it. I’d go every day to the critical care unit and lay with him because he always showed improvement when I was there.”

Bristowe gives credit to the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York for helping Pinot get to a much healthier place. In fact, he was able to come home and reunite with Bristowe’s other dog, Ramen.

“After 5 torturous days in critical care, Pinot is home, and I now believe in miracles,” she said. “He is still not in the clear and on a lot of meds around the clock. But the vets all said he definitely wanted to be here and is a fighter. I can’t believe it.”

Bristowe asked her fans and followers to consider making a donation to the animal medical center if they are able to.

As for what caused the near-death situation for her dog, Bristowe said it was an accident she couldn’t have predicted.

“They have NEVER sent chewable pills. I usually have to put it in a slice of banana. They usually send one bottle, and they sent two,” Bristowe claimed. “He ate 120 heart pills. The emergency had never seen a case like that. My building put the package inside the door and Pinot sniffed it out and got into it. Truly cannot thank @amcny enough. Without them, Pinot may not be here. I cannot put into words how horrific this felt. Pinot is a fighter and heaven was not ready for him yet.”
