Kate Gosselin has a theory as to why most of Collin Gosselin’s siblings aren’t speaking out about his new book.
“They do not want to be involved, and I support them on it,” Kate, 51, wrote via TikTok on Tuesday, October 27. “They are busy in college or living productive lives in their careers. They don’t have interest in reliving the trauma, and they certainly don’t need to ‘help’ their mom!”
The comment came after several users referenced Collin’s memoir on his estranged mother’s TikTok page.
“A child should never have to heal from their own mother 💔,” one user wrote. Another fan replied, “They don’t need to. They know the truth. It’s their choice as adults.” The second comment received a “heart” from Kate.
In his recently released memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, Collin, 22, wrote about his experience growing up on reality TV through Jon & Kate Plus 8.
The show, which aired from 2007 to 2017, documented Jon Gosselin and Kate’s lives as they raised their eight kids. Collin, along with his sextuplet siblings Hannah, Aaden, Joel, Leah and Alexis, joined older twin sisters, Mady and Cara, 26, on the TLC show.
In the book, Collin claims Kate was physically and emotionally abusive before he was able to live with his dad. Kate has repeatedly denied the allegations.
While many of Collin’s siblings have stayed quiet on his book, Hannah made a rare statement attempting to distance herself from any of the drama.
“I’ve decided to take a step back from the situation going on considering I haven’t lived with my dad in over a year and haven’t spoken to Collin in close to a year,” Hannah, 22, wrote via her TikTok Story on October 21. “Having said that, I have had a relationship with my mom and other siblings for quite a few years now. And that’s the only thing I’m clearing up. Beyond this, I will not be commenting on Collin’s behavior growing up or my experiences growing up with him.”
One day after Hannah spoke out on social media, Collin was asked about his sister’s statement.
“I want to respect her privacy, so I’m going to keep it brief,” Collin said during his appearance on the October 22 episode of The View. “But I will say this: All families are complicated. I’ve seen Hannah many times in the past year. Me, myself, my father at our house. I have pictures if you want to see them.”
Collin shared his suspicion that Hannah’s response “sounded like a lot of the words of my mother.”
“What I do believe has happened is that Hannah is caught in the middle, and nobody deserves that,” he claimed. “I know what it’s like to feel like you have to fight to have a relationship with your siblings. I don’t have one with my siblings, and I know how much that hurts.”
