Lil Nas X celebrated “10,000 days alive” with an update on his life after completing rehab.
“Tomorrow is my 10,000th day alive,” Lil Nas X , 27, shared via TikTok on Monday, August 24. “I made it! A lot of ya’all won’t make it but I made it.”
The “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” singer (real name Montero Lamar Hill) was born on April 9, 1999, which indeed meant that Tuesday was the 10,000th day since his birth.
Lil Nas X, 27, showed off a cake with “Happy 10,000th Day” written in red icing on top of vanilla frosting. (He later posted an Instagram Story showing the frosting all over his face.)

In August 2025, Lil Nas X (real name Montero Lamar Hill) was arrested and briefly hospitalized after being seen walking without clothing along Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. He pleaded not guilty to four felonies: three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest.
The “Industry Baby” rapper was ultimately diagnosed with bipolar disorder while spending two months at an Arizona inpatient treatment center.
A California judge agreed to dismiss the charges against Lil Nas X in April, provided he kept up with his outpatient treatment program and did not break any additional laws for two consecutive years. Lil Nas X’s lawyer Christy O’Connor told the court that the musician was following a “rigorous mental health regiment,” including regularly seeing a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist.
On Tuesday, August 26, Lil Nas X made light of one way his life has changed since completing his inpatient treatment.
“Ever since I got out of rehab, everybody is only nice to me,” he joked via TikTok. “I can be like, ‘Hey,’ and they say, ‘Oh my god, you’re so brave!’ I could try to post a thirst trap on my Instagram Story and there’s going to be somebody [that will post], ‘Keep fighting king.’”
Previously, Lil Nas X updated fans in June that he was “doing better” and “feeling better” following his treatment.
“I’ve been in rehab for a few months, and then since then I’ve been, you know, back at home — whether it’s in Atlanta with my family or in Los Angeles with myself, friends and whatnot — and trying to ground myself down to Earth and get out of my head,” he said via an Instagram video at the time. “I have a therapist now and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful.”
He added, “When I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis, I feel like I had known for the past few years, but I didn’t want to admit to it ’cause I didn’t want to have to take medication and, I don’t know, have people think different of me. I mean, I’m already, like, Black and gay — like, damn, God, give me [a break].”
The artist teased that “there is new music on the way,” stressing that he was “excited” for the “next chapter” of his life and career.
Lil Nas X has been working on his sophomore album, Dreamboy, since 2022. It will be the followup to 2021’s debut Montero, which received five Grammy nominations.
