In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the sister-in-law of the late Whitney Houston opened up about the troubling signs that appeared before Bobbi Kristina was found unconscious in her bathtub on Jan. 31.

“When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it, but it just came too late,” Houston told ET.

That plan included a rehab facility in California. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to talk with the aspiring singer in time to make that happen. And Houston revealed she had long been wary of Bobbi’s then-boyfriend, Nick Gordon

In fact, she had filed a restraining order against Gordon after he posted threatening images with guns on social media.

“We had a little hiccup with the restraining order,” she said of her relationship with Bobbi Kristina. “The world saw she was angry and mad at me, but she was texting me all along.”

Houston added that she had warned her goddaughter that “external attraction can really cause problems if you’re not careful.”

Gordon has been accused of injecting Bobbi Kristina with a “toxic mixture” before she was found unconscious.

When asked what she wished she could say to her goddaughter, Houston had some special words for the late Bobbi Kristina: “You don’t have to be afraid to speak out. You have to have self-worth. You have to love yourself. You have to call on people and not allow someone to divide you and then conquer you.”

And despite tension between the Houstons and the Brown family, Pat Houston was not critical of the rumors that Bobbi Kristina’s father, Bobby Brown, was planning to write a memoir about his experiences.

“I don’t really judge when it come to that,” she said. “It could be something that’s really healing for him. You really never know what a person is going through, so if he feels that he wants to write, he’ll do it. The only thing is you’ve got to be very truthful. If it’s good or bad, you’d got to own it.”
