Sarah Silverman won't be saying "I do" anytime soon. The actress and comedian, 43, took to Twitter this past weekend to speak on her relationship.
"Just read that I wanna get married which is hilarious b/c I will never get married," Silverman tweeted on Sunday, Sept. 21. Though she has been in multiple long-term relationships, the A Million Ways to Die in the West star has never been married.
Silverman, who has been dating her Masters of Sex costar Michael Sheen for seven months, went on to give an explanation for her aversion to marriage. "Why would I want the govt involved in my love life?" she questioned. "Ew. It's barbaric."
The funnywoman then added that she took issue with the assumption that she wanted to be a wife. "That s–t never bothers me b/c who cares but I feel like this one is bigoted," she continued. "The Jew girl MUST want a RING! Yich."
After a five-year relationship with Jimmy Kimmel, which was followed by subsequent relationships with writer Alec Sulkin and comedian Kyle Dunnigan, Silverman voiced her thoughts on marriage to Playboy in 2010.
"I love going to weddings, and I love it when my friends get married," she said at the time. "I'm not against marriage, but it's just not for me. I'm a vegetarian, but I don't have a problem if you want a hamburger. Marriage, to me, is like eating meat. I think it's gross and f–king crazy… If you're getting married today, it's the equivalent of joining a country club that doesn't allow blacks or Jews."
