Sleepless in Seattle. After long shifts and restless nights, the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital struggled with exhaustion on Grey’s Anatomy’s Thursday, October 13, episode, causing them to get brutally honest about their feelings toward one another. Read on for five huge revelations this week, but don’t worry: One major secret is still lingering.
Amelia Had Doubts About Her Marriage
Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) stayed up at night discussing their different beliefs, when Amelia realized that she still had a lot to learn about her new husband. When the topic of kids came up, Amelia asked, “How can we have children? I barely know you.”
After a long day, when the exhausted couple complained to friends about their conversation, the two finally discussed their differences in bed. “There was this man I loved very much, and we loved taking drugs together,” Amelia confessed. “One night we took a lot, and the next morning I woke up, and he had OD’d.” Owen looked lovingly at his wife and revealed his own secret: “I once choked Christina.” The two decided that their relationship would be OK and that they wanted to start a family immediately. You know what they say: The couple that reveals their superdark pasts together, stays together.
Alex Saved a Life — at a Major Cost
Alex (Justin Chambers) went into the clinic very early in the morning to try and look good for his boss, who arrived later and immediately told him everything he did wrong the day before. Throughout the day, he treated a teenage girl who he believed was an alcoholic. After leaving the hospital without permission to go meet with his lawyers, Alex decided to skip his meeting and ran back to the hospital after quickly realizing that the girl didn’t have an addiction problem, but a life-threatening disease. Later, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) walked in and asked him about his day, and Alex predicted: “I’m going to jail.”
Riggs and Meredith Had the Talk — Sort Of
Riggs (Martin Henderson) sided with Meredith as she tried to convince Owen that their patient didn’t need surgery. When the decision ultimately led to that patient becoming partially paralyzed, Meredith questioned why Riggs had taken her side. After their day had ended, Meredith finally somewhat confessed her feelings for Riggs. “I can’t do what we did today again,” she explained. “I can’t do my job if I’m thinking about what you’re thinking about me.” Riggs, like all of Us, needed confirmation that she was really admitting this, and asked her if she was, in fact, thinking about him. “I don’t want to be,” she replied. “Let’s just be colleagues, nothing more.” Aaand here we go again.
When Riggs asked Meredith if they could be friends, Maggie overheard and asked him who they were talking about. He lied and said he was talking about himself and Maggie after their awkward encounter. You know, when she asked him out, but he had to say no because of that whole he-slept-with-her-half-sister-but-she-doesn’t-know-it thing.
Jackson and April Finally Figured It Out
Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) struggled to adjust to life with a newborn — and living together. April explained to Arizona that she felt like a guest in his home. “He’s my ex,” April said. “We live together because he’s being nice.” Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) told her that she was healed and should move out of Jackson’s house.
Jackson came home to April rocking a (finally!) sleeping baby Harriet, and the two decided to talk it out. “I can’t keep doing this,” he said. “I can’t keep walking on eggshells in my own house.” April calmly told Jackson that she would move out, which shocked him. “I don’t want you to move out,” Jackson said. April, clearly relieved, admitted: “I don’t want to move out either.” It looks like Jackson, April and Japril fans will be sleeping easy tonight.
DeLuca and Jo Bond
After Bailey (Chandra Wilson) told DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) not to talk about his case against Alex, DeLuca spent his shift at the hospital basically avoiding everyone, which wasn’t hard because, as he put it: “No one talks to me much now anyway.”
When the long day was finally over, Jo and DeLuca awkwardly shared a sandwich in the hospital hallway. “You can’t talk to anyone, and I can’t talk to anyone,” DeLuca said. “No one is going to know if we talk to each other, right?” Secretly hanging out with the guy your ex-boyfriend beat up always ends well, said no one ever.
Tell Us: Is something going to happen between Jo and DeLuca?
