Justin Chambers was born on July 11, 1970, in Springfield, Ohio. He attended Southeastern High School before he embarked on a modeling career, appearing in ads for Calvin Klein, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.
He studied acting at HB Studio in New York City and landed his first role in an episode of the TV series Another World in 1995. Chambers later became best known for his portrayal of Dr. Alex Karev on Grey’s Anatomy. The actor appeared on the hit ABC series from its pilot episode in March 2005 until his departure from the show in March 2020 after 16 seasons. Chambers announced his exit from Grey’s Anatomy in January 2020.
In 2006, his portrayal earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series along with his costars.
Chambers’ other film credits include Liberty Heights (1999), The Wedding Planner (2001), The Musketeer (2001), Hysterical Blindness (2002), Southern Belles (2005), and The Zodiac (2005). The entertainer was cast as one of the leads in the CBS drama Cold Case in 2003 but departed the show after appearing in only four episodes.
Chambers met former model agency booker Keisha Chambers while he modeled earlier in his career. The couple wed in 1993 and are the parents of Isabella, twins Maya and Kaila, Eva and Jackson.
