She’s all about shaking it off! Meghan Trainor, who made a name for herself with her hit song “All About That Bass,” took on Taylor Swift this week when she covered Swift’s new single “Shake It Off.”
Trainor, 20, recently stopped by the Australian radio show Dan and Maz, and performed an acoustic take of the first cut off of Swift’s upcoming 1989 album.
Accompanied by a guitarist, Trainor played ukelele while she put a vocal spin on “Shake It Off.”

The Massachusetts-born singer opened by mirroring the original melody, and giving an impressive performance of Swift’s lyrics. Midway through the song, she broke into a rap: “Hey, say Taylor, shake ’em off / Come on, don’t let ’em get to ya / Go ahead and dance like there ain’t nobody watchin’ ya / Shake like your polaroid picture / You got the fans like we wanna dance wit ya.”
Trainor already has a special relationship with Swift, 24, as the breakout performer earned her first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when “All About That Bass” bumped Swift’s “Shake It Off” to No. 2 after a two-week chart-topping run.
