Amber Portwood is giving fans a glimpse into her love life after stepping back from Teen Mom last year.
Amber, 36, revealed during the Thursday, October 8, episode of her YouTube series, that she’s been quietly dating someone since 2025 — and he’s part of her key to managing her bipolar disorder.
“Make sure whatever partner you’re with, is a good partner. And understand what you have. And really wants to be there for you,” Amber told her listeners. “But never put it on them. Let them be kinda your anchor.” (Amber has been open about her battle with borderline personality and bipolar disorder for years.)
The Teen Mom alum confirmed that she has found that type of relationship with her partner, whose name she chose to keep quiet.
“For me, my boyfriend, who I have been with for almost a year now, he’s my anchor,” Amber gushed. “He’s very calm. Comes from a very sweet Catholic family. They don’t cuss, they don’t do stuff like that.”
The MTV personality admitted that her boyfriend is “very different than me in all ways, but that’s exactly what I needed.”
“It’s kinda like a positive needs a negative to get together and make it,” Amber mused.
Amber’s love life has been a topic of conversation since she made her reality TV debut on 16 and Pregnant in 2009 when she was dating Gary Shirley.
Amber and Gary, 39, welcomed their daughter Leah in 2008, which was documented on season 1 of the show. As they grew up, fans watched how the then-couple struggled to get through legal troubles, relationship woes and parenting at such a young age on the spinoff Teen Mom.
Following her on-off relationship with Gary, including an engagement that came to an end in 2011, Amber was engaged to Matt Baier from 2014 to 2017.
She later romanced Andrew Glennon after meeting while filming Marriage Boot Camp. The pair welcomed son James in 2018 and called it quits the following year.
Amber was briefly engaged to Gary Wayt from 2024 to 2025 before she stepped back from reality TV and public life. (She appeared on Teen Mom from 2009 to 2025.)
In June 2025, Amber revealed she was dating a new man “for over a month,” sharing in a TikTok Live that it was a “good thing.”
She kept his identity a secret at the time, telling her followers, “He’s got this thick accent and he’s super sweet to me.”
It’s unclear if the man she spoke about on her YouTube series is the same guy from last summer.
