Chrissy Teigen has officially been named the Mayor of Twitter! The star has playfully adopted the moniker in the past thanks to her proficiency on the social media platform combined with her uncanny ability to craft tweets that are both funny and thought provoking, but now there’s no denying her position of power.
The 33-year-old playfully celebrated her new role on Sunday, February 10, after reviving a large cake straight from the San Francisco-based company. The confection, which was covered in white frosting and featured the blue bird mascot in the corner, also sported “#mayoroftwitter” signage.
However, in a clear indication she plans to take her new political position seriously, the Lip Sync Battle cohost apparently took the title off and joked on Instagram Stories, “I don’t think I can accept gifts as the mayor.”
Twitter made me a cake!! I have icing, what should I write on it? If you say edit button you *will* be blocked pic.twitter.com/Mvx7mEl9bR

“Twitter made me a cake!!” Teigen later wrote in a tweet alongside a photo of the undecorated food item. “I have icing, what should I write on it? If you say edit button you *will* be blocked.”
It’s no surprise that the responses came flooding in, with many followers suggesting the Cravings author adorn her cake with one of her more memorable social media messages. Apparently Teigen tweeted “IT IS CAKE” in February 2016, and although the context is unclear, given the current circumstances at least one follower thought it was time to bring this message back.
“The tweet about if John murders you,” suggested another, referring to the fact that in 2014 the Target collection creator tweeted, “I always have a note in my pocket that says ‘John did it’ just in case I’m murdered because I don’t want him to remarry.”
Despite having icing on hand, it doesn’t appear that Teigen managed to decorate her personalized pastry any further. Pal Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who was at Teigen and husband John Legend’s house for a Grammy viewing party alongside writer Neal Brennan and actress Jameela Jamil, replied, “Pick a caption so we can eat the damn cake. I’m hungry.”
The Modern Family star later shared a photo of the partially eaten (and still bare) dessert, tweeting “F–k it…”
Teigen may have called Legend, 40, “EGOT lazy” for not attending this year’s awards show, but at least he got to eat some cake!
