Ever notice how Everlane is always a step ahead in fashion? Ironically so, this time around, the brand is actually a step ahead for the better good.
Everlane announced last year that it would rid plastic completely from all of its products and followed up that promise with a ReNew collection made from recycled plastic. But the brand is taking its “good for the environment” pledge a step further — literally. The next step in its plastic-free initiative? Simple: sustainable sneakers! The brand-new sneaker is just the latest-and-greatest product to help the company maintain its “look good, do good” vibe set in motion.

The Tread by Everlane sneaker is the sleek silhouette that’s truly the best of both worlds. Not only will this sneaker have Us looking good, but it will also be doing good for the environment. Everlane’s aim was to make a lighter footprint on the environment, but these kicks ended up being incredibly fashion-forward, too!
These trainer sneakers were designed to have fashion and function in mind. The silhouette is simple and crafted from a full-grain leather from Saigon TanTec, which is a gold-certified tannery. The sole is a blend of natural and recycled rubber that’s 94.2% free of virgin plastic. Which means what? Since the average sneaker is made of almost entirely plastic, that’s definitely less plastic! So how did they do it? Everlane said it used recycled and natural rubber instead, which omitted 18,000 pounds of rubber out from landfills. Wow!
Think of it as the revolutionary sneaker that doesn’t just want to be referenced as ground-breaking. It looks to be actually ground-breaking.

Everlane’s mission is clear. The company is looking to use this sneaker to do better on its path to zero impact. And best of all? This sneaker is the first step in many groundbreaking moves to come within the company!
“The Trainer is just our first step,” Everlane said in a statement. “We’re working every day to further reduce our impact. From cutting out all virgin plastic to — one day — fully closing our production loop. It won’t be easy. But things worth doing rarely are.”
We already loved Everlane for its fashion-forward designs, but this gives us yet another reason!
