A little black dress is still a bit of an enigma to Us. We understand that black is flattering and that dresses are pretty, but we still can’t quite explain the feeling we get when we put on the perfect LBD. Even more indescribable is a little black dress that gives every single person who puts in on that same feeling. It seems impossible. Yet, it exists, and we found it. Drum roll, please!
Introducing the Chelsea28 Faux Wrap Dress. This dress comes from Nordstrom’s exclusive Chelsea28 line, which “focuses on feminine pieces made to be mixed, matched and worn everywhere.” Check, check and check! Everything about this dress, from its color, to its shape, to its fabric was made to flatter every body type, and shoppers are recognizing it for a job well done.

One shopper described this dress as “elegant and simple,” as well as “soft and feminine.” Keep those gorgeous adjectives coming! Another said how easy is it to accessorize to “make it work for different events.” What kind of events, though? One shopper wore it to a beach wedding, another wore it on a cruise, and many others commented on how they found it suitable for occasions during all seasons. The word “flattering” came up over and over again, with everyone loving how its relaxed fit comfortably hugs the body, but not too tightly. Others also commented on how it’s “more substantial” than other flowy dresses, which means not worrying about see-through fabric or accidentally pulling a Marilyn Monroe. “Bring it on, wind!” one shopper said!
This dress takes inspiration from flowers, but it’s not what we’d typically expect to see from a floral dress. No patterns or prints, just petal-like shapes. This is a whole new way of achieving a floral look! The high-low skirt opens up like a tulip in front, forming a curved, top-of-diamond shape that starts above the knee and ends below it.
This skirt also has pleat detailing down the front, as well as ruching at the sides. These details are not only beautiful, but they flatter our shape and leave us room to breathe. The dress’ fabric is lightweight and stretchy, giving us room to move, too! Did we mention that it’s also entirely lined?
Up on the top portion of the dress is a blouson bodice. A blouson bodice is when a dress has a fitted elastic waistband that encourages the fabric to hang slightly over it, literally blousing out. We’re big fans of blouson bodices because they’re so flattering and won’t cling to lumps and bumps, but the waistband still gives us the shape we crave.
The neckline of this dress is a V-neck, which is met up top by the skinny spaghetti straps, which run all the way to the back of the dress, ending at the bottom of our shoulder blades for a chic, semi-open back look. The dress covers enough that we can still invisibly wear a strapless bra if we want to!
There is also a back zip closure, which actually helps to create some symmetry in the dress. The front of the bodice has a subtle seam running down the middle, and the zipper creates this same effect in the back, its teeth hiding behind a similar seam when zipped up!
So, how should we wear this Chelsea28 dress? How does “however we want” sound? This dress is certainly a go-to for fancier occasions such as weddings and other celebrations. Put on a heel of any height, color or pattern and it’s going to work flawlessly. Same goes for other accessories like clutches, crossbodies and silky or embellished headbands.
We can also dress this piece down if we want to. We like the idea of throwing a denim jacket on top and slipping on some canvas sneakers. Finish off the look with a pair of shades or cute eyeglasses and voila!
This is one dress where if we showed up to an event and someone else was wearing the exact same thing, we’d actually be super excited. It would provide some major inspiration to see how they styled it compared to what we went with, and it would prove just how great it looks on anyone who tries it on!
