Sometimes we come away from doing our makeup in the morning looking like we just had an hour-long finger-painting session, and our clothes don’t always make it out clean. We also often come out with the glitter from our highlight somehow on our chin . . . and everywhere else. Using our fingers seems convenient, but it’s awfully messy, and honestly, we could achieve a better finish with the right tools!
We wouldn’t leave anyone hanging without actually telling them what those “right tools” are! We’re specifically talking about the brushes from the Tarte Cosmetics Let’s Flamingle Brush Set. This tropical set caught our eye immediately with its bright, shiny colors and unique designs, but the high-performance results were what gained these brushes true makeup-staple status! The 30% off sale was just the extra delicious cherry on top!
This five-piece, full-size set has garnered only great reviews so far, and we can expect to see many more in the near future. Shoppers can’t get enough of how “absolutely adorable” the golden pineapple and flamingo handles are, and everyone’s loving the contrast of the soft, hot pink bristles. This set will look “lovely on your vanity,” as one review put it. Of course, many also love how “they make putting makeup on so easy” with perfectly sized and shaped handles. One even mentioned how it’s such a “fun gift” for a friend or fellow beauty lover!
To use these brushes, we should always start with creams and liquids before moving on to powders. We can begin with the stippling brush to apply our liquid or cream foundation, or maybe a tinted moisturizer or BB cream. Start with just a bit and build it up to the amount of coverage we want, swirling and swiping around the entire face and jawline until we see an even, seemingly-airbrushed finish!
Depending on whether our other products are cream or powder-based, our application order can change. If we’re staying powder-based, we can go right for the powder brush, which lightly dusts on powder to help set and smooth out makeup!
We can then get started with the cheek brush, applying blush to the apples of our cheeks, defining our smile. For even more structure, we’re obviously getting into highlighting and contouring. We can use the contour brush to apply bronzer to the hollows of our cheeks, our jawline and hairline. Then it’s time for shine!
The fan brush is a go-to for highlighting. Use it to sweep on a shimmering highlight on upper cheekbones, brow bones, the center of our nose and our Cupid’s bow!
Using these cruelty-free brushes to apply each product separately will help us achieve such a clean and perfectly blended finish with everything in its proper place. It will keep our fingers, and therefore clothes, clean too! As they “effortlessly glide” across our skin, applying just the right amount of color, we’ll question how we ever went without them. And every time we spot them on our vanity, our face will light up! This set basically functions as a brightening primer in that way, when we think about it!
