Lights, camera, fashion! The Met Gala, held each year on the first Monday in May at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, is a night where style takes center stage. 2016’s theme, Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology, is sure to bring out some creative couture … but we’d be remiss not to reflect on the best dresses of red carpets past.
Back in 2004, Scarlett Johansson brought out the bombshell for her gala debut in a silky yellow Calvin Klein gown. A few years later, Sarah Jessica Parker wowed in a wicked Philip Treacy headpiece that spoke perfectly to the evening’s punk theme. And months after giving birth to baby Blue Ivy in 2012, Beyoncé came to slay all day in Givenchy Haute Couture.
