Tear! After 12 years in the affordable wedding dress business, J. Crew is officially shuttering its bridal line.
According to Racked, while the prep-cool chain’s collection paved the way for many non-bridal retailers to get into the wedding style space (including H&M, ASOS and ModCloth), the line turned out to be “more of a burden than a boon” to the brand (even with Jennifer Aniston wearing J. Crew on her wedding day). In lieu of a wedding dress collection, the brand plans to offer an extended line of party dresses.
In the meantime, however, there is a silver lining. All J. Crew bride and bridesmaids dresses are now up to 70 percent off, so if you’re looking to shop soon, you can save quite a bit. But act fast: Racked confirmed that once the label’s bridal inventory sells out, that’s it. They won’t be re-stocking.
As for what we can expect next season — or from the upcoming dress line — J. Crew wouldn’t say, only that the spring collection will boast “feminine prints, bold colors and fun florals.” So the usual colorful fabulousness.
